To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many classified rural parishes there are in Wales; how many such parishes do not have(a) a permanent shop, (b) a post office, (c) a school, (d) a village hall and (e) a daily bus service; and if he will publish the equivalent figures for (i) 1961, (ii) 1971 and (iii) 1981.

The number of civil parishes in rural districts in Wales in 1961 and 1971 was 899. Rural districts and civil parishes were abolished in 1974. Information on amenities is not collected centrally.
