Mr. Hanson

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what costed proposals Clwyd county council have forwarded to his Department in relation to proposals to develop Pen y Gelli quarry, Lloc, near Holywell, as an itinerant transit camp; and what has been his response to date.

Mr. Gwilym Jones

Clwyd county council applied in September 1990 for approval in principle of grant aid for the establishment of this transit gipsy site. They were asked to reconsider the proposals and are currently doing so.

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what commitments his Department has given with regard to the costs of the compulsory purchase order and the potential public inquiry with regard to the proposal to develop Pen y Gelli quarry, Lloc, near Holywell, as an itinerant transit camp; and if he will make a statement.

No such order has yet been submitted to my right hon. Friend and no commitments have been given.
