To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will list those district health authorities that have requested Welsh Water plc to increase the fluoride content of water supplies, indicating (i) those that have had their request met, (ii) those whose applications are pending and (iii) those whose applications have been refused.

Gwynedd health authority have a long-standing agreement with Welsh Water dating from 1955 to fluoridate water supplies on Anglesey. They have requested Welsh Water plc to replace the equipment used to fluoridate the water supply on Anglesey which has not been in operation for about four years. The company has not yet acceded to that request. The Department is not aware of any other requests of Welsh Water plc by health authorities concerning fluoridation.
