HL Deb 24 November 1992 vol 540 c63WA
Lord Stoddart of Swindon

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many responses have been received from the retail trade to the consultation on the proposed statutory instrument to implement Clause 4 of the Children and Young Persons (Protection from Tobacco Act) 1991 on warning notices for under 16 year-olds in tobacco retail outlets; in particular to the proposed size of the notice; whether they will indicate the nature of the responses; and whether they intend to make a statement before laying an order before Parliament.

Baroness Cumberlege

In response to the consultation on the draft Protection from Tobacco (Display of Warning Statements) Regulations 1992, there were over 600 representations from the retail trade stating that the dimensions were too large. We do not intend to make a statement before laying an order before Parliament.
