§ Dr. MarekTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what plans he has to introduce a second service between Ascension and St. Helena in addition to the present one provided by the RMS St. Helena.
§ Mr. Lennox-BoydAt the request of the St. Helena Government, the Overseas Development Administration has been considering means of providing an extra weekly scheduled shipping service between St. Helena and Ascension Island. Attempts have been made through national and international tendering to identify a suitable vessel for purchase or charter but to date no vessel has been found which could provide the required service at an acceptable rate of return. The Overseas Development Administration are considering with the St. Helena Government alternative ways of meeting the need.
