HC Deb 23 November 1992 vol 214 c459W
Sir Thomas Arnold

To ask the Prime Minister if he will make a statement on his meeting with the Vice-Premier of the People's Republic of China.

The Prime Minister

My meeting with the Vice-Premier offered an important opportunity to reaffirm to the Chinese leadership the Government's strong support for the Governor's proposals for constitutional development in Hong Kong and to urge the Chinese to proceed through constructive discussion rather than confrontation. I also discussed commercial issues and human rights, including the visit of Lord Howe's delegation to China in December.
