HC Deb 20 November 1992 vol 214 c414W
Mr. Llwyd

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport if he will establish a Government survey to evaluate the possibility of a United Kingdom-wide concessionary fare scheme for pensioners on public transport.

Mr. Freeman

We have no plans to change the present arrangements for concessionary fares schemes operated by local authorities. Both British Rail and long-distance coach operators have their own commercial travel concessions for elderly people. There is therefore no need to carry out a survey as suggested by the hon. Member.
