To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department how many people have been prosecuted for forgery of banknotes during each of the past five years for which records are available.

Data collected centrally does not distinguish between offences involving coins or notes. The table shows the number of prosecutions for forgery of coins and notes from 1986 to 1990. Provisional 1991 data will be available before the end of 1992.
