HC Deb 20 November 1992 vol 214 cc422-3W
Mr. Jack Straw

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what assumptions and calculations underlie the projection used in the Autumn Statement for capital receipts from the sale of local authorities' assets(a) in aggregate and (b) for each local authority; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Portillo

The projection in paragraph 2.36 of the Autumn Statement is on a United Kingdom basis. It was based as usual on information about local authorities' recent asset sales and forecast outturn in the current year, taking account of the expected effect of the receipts measure announced in the Autumn Statement and of past experience in forecasting receipts. The Government have made no projections of asset sales at the level of individual local authorities.
