§ Dr. MawhinneyThe health survey for England, currently being carried out by the Office of Population Censuses and Surveys on behalf of the Department of Health, is a part of a continuing programme of surveys to monitor the nation's health. It is a central part of our health of the nation initiative and focuses on cardiovascular disease and associated risk factors.
The first survey took place in the autumn of 1991 and achieved a sample size of 3,100 adults. A report is due in mid-1993. The fieldwork for the 1992 survey is running from September to December. It is aiming for a sample size of 4,000 adults. The target sample size for 1993 is 17,000 adults. Results will be published annually.
