To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many portable halon fire extinguishers are contained within his Department's buildings; and what measures are being taken to ensure their recycling and replacement.

My Department has 57 halon fire extinguishers remaining in buildings it occupies. These are all due to be replaced in this financial year with the appropriate ozone-friendly alternatives. They will be removed and disposed of safely under controlled conditions with their contents being recycled in accordance with the relevant British standard.
