To ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will give the value of his Department's total annual expenditure on printing for each of the past 10 financial years; what tendering procedure has been followed; and if it has been changed since 1982–83.

Annual expenditure on printing costs for the past five financial years is as follows:

Figures for earlier years are not available.

Prior to September 1991 the majority of the Department's printing requirements were met under standing arrangements with HMSO. Purchasing since that date has been conducted entirely on the basis of competitive tendering for individual tasks.
