HC Deb 18 November 1992 vol 214 c272W
Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland how many long-term unemployed there are in the Greater Glasgow area.

Mr. Stewart

The most recent available figures are those for the quarter ended in July 1992. They show that at that time there were in the Glasgow travel-to-work area 43,757 people—6.5 per cent. of the work force—who had been unemployed for six months or longer, of whom 28,968–4.3 per cent. of the work force—had been unemployed for 12 months or longer.
