HC Deb 18 November 1992 vol 214 c213W
Lady Olga Maitland

To ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what proposals the Government have for halting missile proliferation in the third world.

Mr. Douglas Hogg

The United Kingdom was a founder member, in 1987, of the missile technology control regime and has taken a leading role in promoting a wider membership and in the recent decision to extend controls to missiles capable of delivering chemical and biological, as well as nuclear, weapons. We also regularly raise our proliferation concerns with those countries which either seek to procure missile systems or are major suppliers, to urge them not to go ahead with such transactions.
