HC Deb 18 November 1992 vol 214 cc246-7W
174. Mr. McAllion

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, if he will place in the Library a copy of the health and safety policy of each of the agencies within his Department.

Mr. Robert Jackson

The chief executives of the Central Office of Information, the Civil Service College, Her Majesty's Stationery Office, the Occupational Health Service and the Recruitment and Assessment Services Agency are responsible for health and safety policy within their agencies.

I am placing in the Library copies of the health and safety policies applying in the Central Office of Information and Her Majesty's Stationery Office. I am also placing in the Library a copy of volumn IV of the Cabinet Office staff handbook, which contains the Cabinet Office's health and safety policy. This will continue to apply in the Civil Service College, the Occupational Health Service and the Recruitment and Assessment Services Agency until separate health and safety policies have been developed and put in place.

Mr. Robert Jackson

I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for Cambridgeshire, South-East (Mr. Paice) on 17 November Official Report, column 104. The procedures I outlined there will apply to the five executive agencies for which I am responsible—the Central Office of Information, the Civil Service College, HMSO, the Occupational Health Service and Recruitment and Assessment Services. An announcement about the future status of each agency will be made at the appropriate time.

Mr. McAllion

To ask the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster if he will list those executive agencies that have amended their original framework documents since their establishment.

Mr. Waldegrave

I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave him on 19 June 1992,Official Report, column 685. While this is primarily a matter for departmental Ministers and chief executives of the agencies for which they are responsible, I understand that the following agencies have had their original framework documents amended: Companies House; the Patent Office; the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre; and the Vehicle Inspectorate.
