To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will investigate the conduct of Sportsworld plc in organising holidays to the Barcelona olympics.

Investigation of anti-competitive practices or monopolistic behaviour is the responsibility of the Director General of Fair Trading. I understand the director general is considering this matter, following which he will decide what action, if any, he should take.

Mr. Byers

To ask the President of the Board of Trade if he will bring forward proposals to prevent the establishment of a monopoly in the supply of tickets to major international sporting events.

Mr. Neil Hamilton

It is the responsibility of the Director General of Fair Trading to keep all markets under review and to refer them to the Monopolies arid Mergers Commission where he considers it necessary.
