HL Deb 16 November 1992 vol 540 c37WA
Lord Avebury

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they will place in the Library copies of all documents disclosed in the Matrix Churchill case.

The Minister of State, Department of Transport (The Earl of Caithness)

The documents disclosed in the Matrix Churchill case have been obtained by the Commissioners of Customs and Excise in the course of their investigation and conduct of the case. The general legal rule is that prosecuting authorities may use such documents only for those purposes, and therefore arrangements will not be made for copies of them to be placed in the Library.
