To ask the Secretary of State for Wales what new initiatives he plans to introduce to improve the accuracy of employment information.

The Department of Employment is responsible for the preparation of employment estimates for Wales.

In the past two years, the Employment Department has completed three major projects to improve the reliability of the estimates. Other projects, including the first full census of employers since 1981 and the development with the Central Statistical Office of a register of employers, will be completed over the next three years.
