HC Deb 13 November 1992 vol 213 c990W
Mr. Dafis

To ask the Secretary of State for Wales how many school governors in Wales came to the end of their term in office at the end of the 1992 summer term; how many did not seek reappointment; and how many school governor positions remain unfilled in each local education authority area.

Sir Wyn Roberts

Returns from local education authorities indicate that between 12,000 and 13,000 governors completed their term of appointment this summer. Information on the number who sought re-appointment and the number of positions still vacant is not available but I am not aware of any authorities who have experienced difficulties in recruiting adequate numbers.
