To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what were the additional policing costs arising out of(a) the Liberal Democrat party conference, (b) the Labour party conference and (c) the Conservative party conference in 1992.

I understand from the chief officers of the forces concerned that the estimated additional costs are:

(a) Liberal Democrat (North Yorkshire) Nil

(b) Labour (Lancashire) £110,000

(c) Conservative (Sussex) £2,200,000
