HC Deb 11 November 1992 vol 213 c820W
Mr. Bennett

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence, pursuant to his answers of 25 June,Official Report, column 299, if the figures for nuclear waste include radioactive waste arising from the decommissioning of disused facilities at the atomic weapons establishment Aldermaston; and how much radioactive waste will arise at Aldermaston up to the year 2000 as a result of decommissioning old facilities.

Mr. Aitken

The estimated volumes of nuclear waste arising at the atomic weapons establishment Aldermaston up to the year 2001 which I quoted in my answer of 25 June included radioactive waste arising from the decommissioning of disused facilities at the atomic weapons establishment Aldermaston.

The current estimated volumes of intermediate and low-level waste to be generated at the atomic weapons establishment Aldermaston by the decommissioning programme between January 1992 and March 2001 are 450 cu m and 3,300 cu m respectively.
