HC Deb 11 November 1992 vol 213 cc844-5W
Mr. Redmond

To ask the Secretary of State for Health, pursuant to her answer of 19 October,Official Report, column 81, if she will make it her policy to collect statistics on the numbers of national health service trust staff who arc currently in national health service pension schemes and those who elected to change to a private pension scheme run on behalf of a trust.

Dr. Mawhinney

No. National health service trusts have been established with the minimum of bureaucratic constraints. A requirement to collect statistical data about the exercise of free pension choice would run counter to that principle.
