To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will make it his policy to negotiate a double taxation agreement with Italy which would give United Kingdom based businesses exemption from extraordinary levies on all bank balances by the Italian Government; and if he will make a statement.

The matter is currently being discussed with the Italian authorities.
