HC Deb 10 November 1992 vol 213 cc699-712W
Mr. Michael

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will publish a table showing(a) the number of recorded crimes and (b) the number of crimes committed by category for England and Wales and for each police force area in each 12-month period from June 1988.

Mr. Jack

[holding answer 2 November 1992]: The information is available for recorded crimes only and is contained in the following tables.

Figures are not available for crimes committed in these periods, but estimates for England and Wales covering the calendar year 1991 are provided in the British crime survey. First results of the British crime survey are published in "Home Office Research Findings No. 2", which is available in the Library.
