To ask the Secretary of State for National Heritage when he became aware of the proposals of English Heritage outlined in the document "Managing England's Heritage"; and if he will make a statement.

Following my appointment as Secretary of State on 25 September, I was briefed about English Heritage's strategy proposals and discussed them with Jocelyn Stevens, the chairman of English Heritage, on 1 October.
