§ Mr. MacleanMember states were formally notified of the habitats directive on 5 July 1992 and are obliged to bring into force the provisions necessary to enable them to comply within two years of that date. The Government are considering what additional measures are necessary to enable them to fulfil their obligations and my right hon. and learned Friend expects to consult on the Government's proposals within the next few months.
