HC Deb 05 November 1992 vol 213 c341W
30. Mr. Cann

To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what assessment he has made of the effects of the set-aside regulations on the conservation of wildlife, both flora and fauna.

Mr. Curry

We are currently funding a range of studies on the agronomic and environmental effects of short and longer-term set-aside, including changes in the botanical composition of set-aside land, the effects on wildlife habitats and the potential for conserving and restoring such habitats on set-aside land. This involves assessing a number of complex factors over time and final results are not yet available.
