§ Mr. SalmondTo ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when the random slaughterhouse survey of blood samples from sheep and goats carried out under directive 91/68/EC was concluded; if he will publish the findings of the survey; if any samples taken as part of the survey under directive 91/68/EC were screened for maedi visna; and if he will publish the results.
§ Mr. SoamesThe slaughterhouse survey for brucella melitensis and contagious agalactia in sheep and goats and for brucella ovis in sheep was concluded in June 1992. None of the diseases was confirmed. A total of 3,234 of the samples taken were screened for maedi visna, and these results will be made available to the sheep and goat health scheme advisory group.
