To ask the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food when the random slaughterhouse survey of blood samples from sheep and goats carried out under directive 91/68/EC was concluded; if he will publish the findings of the survey; if any samples taken as part of the survey under directive 91/68/EC were screened for maedi visna; and if he will publish the results.

The slaughterhouse survey for brucella melitensis and contagious agalactia in sheep and goats and for brucella ovis in sheep was concluded in June 1992. None of the diseases was confirmed. A total of 3,234 of the samples taken were screened for maedi visna, and these results will be made available to the sheep and goat health scheme advisory group.
