§ Mr. MorganTo ask the Secretary of State for Wales if he will issue guidelines on the procedure to be followed by the chairmen and non-executive directors of newly-appointed national health service trusts in Wales in appointing to the post of chief executive, as regards advertising the vacancy(a) where a general manager is already in post, (b) where a trust crosses pre-existing unit or health authority boundaries and (c) where there is no general manager in post or where he or she is near retirement or on extended sick leave.
§ Mr. Gwilym JonesThe Department has issued general guidance on the appointment of executive directors of national health service trusts. The appointment of chief executives is a matter for the chairman and non-executive directors of each trust.
