HC Deb 04 November 1992 vol 213 c301W
Mrs. Helen Jackson

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what provisions are laid down regarding requirements of access to tap water at work sites under health and safety regulations.

Mr. McLoughlin

There are no requirements for tap water as such in health and safety legislation. The Factories Act 1961 and the Offices, Shops and Railway Premises Act 1963 require drinking water and running water for washing to be provided at conveniently accessible places in premises subject to those Acts. Separate legislation covering construction work, mines and quarries, agriculture, and work with asbestos, lead and ionising radiations contains similar provisions.
