HC Deb 04 November 1992 vol 213 c276W
Mr. Alfred Morris

To ask the Chancellor of the Exchequer what consultation took place with organisations representing visually handicapped people before the design of the new £10 and £20 notes was approved; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Lamont

The Bank of England's consultations with organisations representing the visually handicapped, regarding the new series of banks notes, began in March 1984. Regular meetings, approximately annually, have taken place since then with the Royal National Institute for the Blind, which co-ordinates communication between the bank and other organisations representing the visually handicapped.
