To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what are the latest unemployment figures at the latest possible date; and if she will make a statement.

The figure is 2,843,300; this is some 280,700 less than at its peak in July 1986.

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment what change there has been in male unemployment in Cornwall over the past 12 months.

On the unadjusted basis, the number of male unemployed claimants in the county of Cornwall increased by 2,897 between September 1991 and September 1992.
