§ Mr. Austin MitchellTo ask the President of the Board of Trade what effect the increase since the second half of 1973 in the terms of trade for finished manufactures and in the relative unit value of exports of finished manufactures has had on the volume of imports and exports and on manufacturing output; and if he will publish a table showing for finished manufactures for each year since 1970 the percentage increase/reduction in the terms of trade and in relative export unit values together with(a) the increase in the volume of imports and exports of both finished and semi-finished manufactures and (b) the increase in manufacturing output.
§ Mr. Needham[holding answer 29 October 1992]: The Department does not produce estimates of the effects of terms of trade and relative export unit values on trade flows and output.
