Ms. Short

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment for each region, and for Great Britain as a whole, how many applications for loans under the career development scheme have been made in 1992 and how many have been rejected; how many women have been awarded loans; how many employment training participants have been awarded loans; what have been the successful course completion rates in each region; how much has been awarded in total for each region and how much has been recovered; and if she will make a statement.

Information by region on the number of loans approved under the career development loan scheme, numbers of applications rejected, number of loans approved for women, the value of loans approved and the successful course completion rate are shown in the tables. The information given is for the period October 1991 to the end of September 1992.

Details of the number of ET participants and of the amount of money repaid are not available.

Further information on career development loans can be found in the 1991–92 annual report. This will be published in mid-November and a copy will be placed in the Library.
