HC Deb 02 November 1992 vol 213 c60W
Mr. Amess

To ask the President of the Board of Trade, pursuant to his answer of 16 July,Official Report, column 989, when he will announce his plans for frequencies for hospital radio.

Mr. Leigh

As the Radio Authority informed the National Association of Hospital Broadcasting Organisations on 24 September, the members of the authority have decided that, in the light of the results of the previous experiment and before any further steps are taken, a detailed assessment should be made of the wider implications of freely radiating transmission for hospital and student radio upon spectrum availability. It is for the Radio Authority to determine how best to use the frequencies available for independent broadcasting, determining in particular the priorities to be accorded to permanent stations, short-term restricted services, and longer term restricted services, like hospital and student radio.
