To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland if he will list the number of confirmed cases of bovine spongiform encephalopathy in each month since June.

As at 26 October the information is as follows:

July 25
August 25
September 27
October 31

There are approximately 1.5 million cattle in Northern Ireland and a total of 542 confirmed cases of bovine spongiform encephalopathy have been reported to 26 October 1992.
