HC Deb 21 May 1992 vol 208 c208W
Mr. Bayley

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will issue advice to police forces that they should not receive delegations from the South African police without consulting his Department and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office.

Mr. Charles Wardle

The majority of visits to United Kingdom police forces by overseas police personnel are arranged on a Government-to-Government basis. Where this is not the case, chief officers of police are regularly reminded of the need to consult my Department and/or the Foreign and Commonwealth Office if there are likely to be political or other sensitivities.
