HL Deb 21 May 1992 vol 537 c45WA
Lord Judd

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether action is being taken by the UN to ensure protection for and access to those in need in Mogadishu, and similarly for and to the displaced people in and near Khartoum.

The Minister of State, Foreign and Commonwealth Office (Baroness Chalker of Wallasey)

The UN continues to press for safe access to populations in need in all Somalia, on the basis of Security Council Resolution 751. The secretary general expects to report to the council shortly. The UN is also taking action with the Sudanese Government over the displaced in Khartoum and elsewhere.
