HC Deb 21 May 1992 vol 208 c199W
Mr. Beith

To ask the Secretary of State for Transport what is the purpose of the works which have caused traffic lights and one-way operations to be set up on the A 1 Haggerston, south of Berwick upon Tweed; for how long the obstructions will remain; and whether they will remain in place during weekends and English and Scottish holidays.

Mr. Kenneth Carlisle

The traffic signals on the A1 at Haggerston south of Berwick have been introduced so that essential maintenance and improvement works to the carriageway can be undertaken. The work is programmed for completion at the beginning of August.

The traffic signals will normally remain in place at weekends, but arrangements have been made for them to be removed on Thursday 21 May for the bank holiday weekend.
