§ Mr. ForthThe Department has seen no evidence that experienced teachers are facing dismissal because of local management of schools. LMS means that schools that attract and retain pupils receive more money and gives governing bodies the power to decide how best to spend that money for the benefit of pupils—including how many and which teachers to employ. Under LMS, the overall amount of money available for school education remains the responsibility of individual local education authorities.
