HL Deb 19 May 1992 vol 537 c27WA
Lord Hylton

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How many foreign citizens, not normally resident in the United Kingdom, are serving sentences in HM Prisons.

Earl Ferrers

The home address of the inmates of Prison Service establishments in England and Wales is not recorded centrally. However, of a total sentenced population of 34,700 on 31st December 1991, about 2,600 were known to be foreign nationals. The nationality of a further 5,900 was not recorded.
