§ Mr. McLoughlinIt is not possible to estimate the increase in unemployment in any particular area if and when Markham Main colliery is closed. A number of organisations including British Coal Enterprise, and this Department through the Employment Service and training and enterprise councils, offer a wide range of help with job finding and retraining to unemployed mine workers.
