HC Deb 13 May 1992 vol 207 c152W
Mr. O'Neill

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence what official information on the deployment or non-deployment of nuclear weapons on board Royal Navy ships has been provided to foreign Governments in the past.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

It has been invariable practice of successive British Governments neither to confirm nor to deny the presence of nuclear weapons in specific locations at specific times. We are, however, willing to make clear that it is no longer our practice to deploy tactical nuclear weapons on board Royal Navy ships.
