§ Mr. SackvilleGross NHS expenditure in England is planned to be £28.9 (27.6) billion in 1992–93. Gross NHS expenditure in England was £6.5 (6.3) billion in 1978–79, £16.0 (£15.2) billion in 1986–87 and £26–6 (25.2) billion in 1991–92 (net figures shown in brackets).
This represents a real terms increase in gross spending of 56.9 per cent. since 1978–79.
