Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (1) if he will publish a table to show the number of students in each education and library board area who passed in Irish language at(a) O-level or GCSE and (b) A-level in 1989, 1990 and 1991;

(2) if he will publish a table to show how many students in each education and library board area passed at (a) GCSE or O-level and (b) A-level in each language taught, other than English and Irish, in 1989, 1990 and 1991.

The information requested is not readily available by board area. However the overall number of students who passed GCSE—that is, obtained grades A to C—and A-level—that is, obtained grades A to E—in languages other than English was as follows:
