About one third are home owners, the remainder are either private tenants or occupy RN accommodation. It is not possible at this stage to say which personnel will move to Devonport.
§ Mr. ViggersTo ask the Secretary of State for Defence what is the estimated cost of relocating the 1 Submarine Squadron from Gosport to Devonport.
§ Mr. Archie HamiltonThe estimated cost is some £3.5 million. With annual savings in running costs of some £2 million per year, we expect to recoup these costs within two years.
