§ The Prime MinisterThe review body's report, which deals with the pay of senior nurses and senior midwives, is being published today. The Government are grateful to the review body for the additional work it has undertaken to prepare this report.
The report recommends that with effect from I September 1991 the senior nurse and senior midwife pay spine should be increased by approximately 6 per cent. to 683W the level of the senior manager pay spine and that senior nurses should each receive a single non-superannuable cash payment of £300.
The Government have accepted the review body's recommendations but have decided that the single cash payment should be superannuable, in order to comply with the provisions of the NHS superannuation regulations.
