However, provisional estimates for 1990, the latest year for which figures are available, show that the proportion of households in Greater London with one car was 42 per cent. and with two cars or more, 19 per cent. It is forecast that by the year 2001, car ownership in Greater London will increase to between 64 and 68 per cent. of households.
