To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment when he last consulted(a) the Civic Trust and (b) English Heritage on the best way to halt the spread of security shuttering in retail outlets.

There have been no consultations with the Civic Trust or English Heritage on security measures to protect shops and no approaches from these bodies on this matter.

I refer the hon. Member to the reply I gave him on 10 March Official Report, column 443 to this question on the establishment of a working group on security in city shopping centres.
