§ Mr. SpearingTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement on the effect from 1 January 1993 of ratification by all member states of the treaty on European union.
§ Mr. Garel-JonesThe treaty on European union will enter into force on 1 January 1993, if all member states548W have ratified it before that date. On entry into force member states will become subject to the obligations of the treaty.
§ Mr. SpearingTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what effect ratification of the treaty on European union will have on the official name and description of what is now the European Community.
§ Mr. Garel JonesThe treaty on European union provides that, throughout the treaty establishing the European Economic Community, the term "European Economic Community" shall be replaced by the term "European Community".
